The Kiturami Cultural Foundation (Chairman Kim Yun-gyu)
promised to donate a total of KRW 2 billion over 10 years to the Yonsei Medical
Center.
The donation will be used to establish a
next-generation medical system, such as artificial intelligence (AI) emergency
medical system, big data-based disease prediction, and health management
technology, and develop medical centers further.
The donation handover ceremony held at the Yonsei Medical Center was
attended by Ghoi Jin-min, Chairman of the Kiturami Group, Song Kyung-seok, CEO
of Kiturami Holdings, Toon Dong-seop, Director of Yonsei Medical Center, Koo
Sung-wook, Director of External Cooperation, Han Woong-kyu, Secretary General
of the Development Fund, and Jang Hyuk-jae, Professor of Cardiology at
Severance Hospital.
Established in 1985, the Kiturami Cultural Foundation has carried out
various social contribution activities over the past 37 years.
Youth scholarship projects, science and engineering research funding,
and educational institution support projects are representative examples.
Meanwhile, the Kiturami Cultural Foundation has supported the Yonsei
Medical Center since 2010, and it will donate a total of 2.5 billion won by
2031.
"We
decided to donate because we thought the establishment of medical systems based
on artificial intelligence and big data and medical development were ways to
provide hope to patients with incurable diseases. We plan to continue our contribution activities,” said Choi
Jin-min, Chairman of the Kiturami Group.
Yoon Dong-seop, Head of the Medical Center, expressed gratitude for the continued donation for the past 13 years. "Based on the donation, we will do our best to lead the medical community by making patients the top priority," he added.
